Automation Engineer – AI & Integrations
Build the production AI workflows that Kresto deploys for clients: integrations, document intelligence, reporting automation, workflow orchestration, and the operational controls that make them dependable.
Remote — Global Full-time Competitive — based on experience
About the role
Kresto Consulting is looking for an Automation Engineer who enjoys making systems work in the real world. Our clients do not need another AI demo. They need robust automations that connect existing tools, reduce manual coordination, and survive day-to-day project delivery.
You will build and maintain AI-enabled workflows across documents, email, spreadsheets, CRM, project systems, and APIs. Your work may include document extraction, data transformation, reporting pipelines, approval routing, retrieval-based assistants, and operational monitoring.
This is a hands-on role. You will write code, configure integrations, test edge cases, and document what you build. You will work closely with Solutions Architects and Implementation Consultants to turn a defined business process into a dependable client outcome.
What you will do
- Build AI-enabled workflows using APIs, automation platforms, Python, TypeScript, and cloud services
- Integrate client systems including document repositories, Microsoft 365, email, CRM, project platforms, and data sources
- Develop document-processing, retrieval, reporting, and workflow-orchestration components
- Implement logging, error handling, monitoring, access controls, and human-review steps
- Test workflows against real operational edge cases and improve reliability before deployment
- Support production releases, issue resolution, and client handover
- Write clear technical documentation for internal teams and client administrators
- Contribute reusable connectors, patterns, and engineering standards across engagements
What we are looking for
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, automation engineering, integrations, or technical implementation
- Strong proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication methods, and data transformation
- Experience using LLM APIs or building practical AI features in production workflows
- Understanding of relational data, JSON, and basic cloud deployment concepts
- Comfort working with workflow automation tools such as n8n, Make, Power Automate, or Zapier
- Strong debugging discipline and ownership of production quality
- Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory
Nice to have
- —Experience with OCR, document intelligence, vector search, or retrieval-augmented generation
- —Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP
- —Experience in EPC, infrastructure, engineering, or project-heavy businesses
- —Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, or observability tooling
- —Client-facing technical delivery experience
